About Sandy's Blackhawk Island

Sandy's Blackhawk Island is located in Ontario waters at the western shore of Lake of the Woods. This area has long been recognized as one of the better fishing grounds in Lake of the Woods. Annually it produces walleyes, northerns and smallmouth bass in abundance, as well as providing some of the finest muskie fishing in the entire Lake of the Woods. It is a natural spawning ground for these fish and has an annual reproduction rate more than sufficient to provide exceptional fishing all summer, not just May and June as is the case in some of the other Canadian shield lakes.

Northern and walleyes are in abundance, in waters within a mile or two of the camp. Smallmouth and largemouth bass are plentiful, with the activity really picking up around the third week of May and continuing throughout the balance of the year.

This area is rated as one of the finest muskie areas in North America. Muskies have been caught and released consistently over the years. The serious muskie fisherman should consider booking one of our muskie guides. We urge you to make early bookings for these specialized guides, as their number is very limited and they are usually booked early in the spring.
